An aide to the General Secretary of
the New Patriotic Party, Davis Opoku Ansah has been accused of busing
people to the party’s
headquarters to protest against the suspension of
Paul Afoko.
Some of the bused demonstrators were recruited from
the Asawase constituency and this has forced the leadership of the party
in the area to come out and disassociate themselves from the
unfortunate incident.
In a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com,
the leaders kicked against the demonstration which was staged to force
the National Executive Committee (NEC) to overturn Mr. Afoko’s
indefinite suspension.
Statement Below:
DISASSOCIATION
OF A PRESS CONFERENCE AND A DEMONSTRATION BY SOME SECTION OF ASAWASE
NPP MEMBERS ON THE SUSPENSION OF FORMER CHAIRMAN PAUL AFOKO
Good
afternoon members of the press and thanks for honoring our invitation
despite its short notice but the situation at hand calls for timely
disassociation hence your emergency call.
We want to start by
making our position clear that our allegiance as party members of this
constituency to our dear NPP party and our flag bearer Nana Addo Dankwa
Akufo Addo is intact and very solid.
We find it the most
disgusting, the way and manner Asawase constituency name was being
mentioned in that protest and press conference to say that if for any
reason some persons within the constituency have gone to Accra
demonstrate, we the party supporters, council of elders, patrons,
electoral areas coordinators and polling station executives are solidly
behind our flag bearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo as well as the
decision by the national executive committee and the national council.
NPP
as a party has its constitution in which all channels of grievances are
prescribed; it is therefore amazing to come to the realization that
Asawase constituency has been mentioned in the protest.
The
constituency is focused and moving steadily with its programmes and
policies in making sure that our operation of winning the constituency
and working tirelessly to see our next President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo
Addo becomes a reality.
Our focused now is on our door to door
campaign under the leadership of our Parliamentary Candidate HON. ALHAJI
ALIDU SEIDU in the constituency and with our coverage of five out of
ten electoral areas we are sure of winning the seat therefore want all
peace loving and well-wishers of our party to be in the notice.
We therefore issue this our statement with a strong disclaimer to the press conference and the protest.
We give our blessing and endorsement to the decision taken by NEC and the party is bigger than any individual in the party.
Long live NPP, long live Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
Signed:
