Allotey warns NPP: 'We are ready for war in 2016'

The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs says the party is ready to face any political party
planning to foment trouble before, during and after the 2016 general elections.

According to him, no political party, especially the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has monopoly over violence, thus they will meet them boot-for-boot if they try it.

“We are prepared for war so if they want war, we will give them war; if they want peace, we will give them peace because Ghana does not belong to one person,” he declared.

Allotey Jacobs was reacting to a facebook comment by the NPP National Youth Organizer, Samuel Awuku, calling for a youth revolution if the Electoral Commission fails to compile a new voters register.

Awuku believes the posture of the Commission could be inimical to future generations in Ghana; the youth should therefore not allow their future to be toyed with.

This comment by the NPP youth leader, Allotey Jacobs said, is a recipe for disaster.

“Sammy Awuku wants to incite the youth against the EC and government but we won’t allow that,” he warned.

The NDC Central Regional Chairman noted that the NDC as a mass party will not "sit aloof and watch some selfish, power-drunk individuals plunge the country into chaos."

Allotey Jacobs said the NDC will be prepared to go to war in the interest of the state if the need arises.
